About the Role

The Baker oversees the creation of bread, cookies, and all baked goods. This position is vital for ensuring consistency, product excellence, and meeting daily output targets to maintain seamless bakery operations and deliver premium results.

Key Responsibilities

Baking & Production

  • Craft and bake breads, cookies, and pastries following standardized recipes
  • Manage dough through mixing, shaping, and proofing for ideal quality
  • Oversee oven operations, modifying heat and duration as required

Quality Control

  • Review final products for uniformity, flavour, and visual appeal
  • Address or remove items that fall below bakery requirements

Inventory & Preparation

  • Scale and weigh all ingredients with high precision
  • Help monitor stock levels and document ingredient consumption

Cleanliness & Organization

  • Maintain a sanitized and orderly production environment
  • Clean all prep surfaces and machinery, including mixers and ovens

Collaboration

  • Coordinate with the Head Baker and team for efficient workflow
  • Partner on developing recipes and assessing new product ideas

Success Measures

  • Uniformity in high-standard baked goods
  • Timely fulfillment of the daily baking schedule
  • Orderly and hygienic production space
  • Constructive interaction within the baking department

  • Knowledge of food safety protocols

Schedule

This position shifts are usually cover during these time: 

  • Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 4:30am to 10:30am (for mixing shift)
  • Wednesday and Saturday during market season 4:00am to 10am
  • Wednesday and Saturday during market season 5:30am to 11:30am
  • Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 6:30am to 12:30 pm (for “ovens shift”, experienced baker only

Wage

The wage for this position starts at $21-$25 + shared tips based on experience
