The owner, Justine, was working as a baker at Au Soleil Levant French Bakery inc. for the last 10 years. After spending 23 years creating beautiful and creative artisanal sourdough breads and establishing a solid customer base, Au Soleil Levant was closing its doors. Justine's passion for authentic sourdough bread making and love for her community drive her to keep the bakery open. As of January 1st, Au Soleil Levant evolved into La Ruelle Bakery, keeping the most popular recipes and the heart of the bakery: The love for crafted sourdough bread.

La Ruelle Bakery takes pride in sourcing the majority of its ingredients from local organic farms and adhering to sustainable practices for a more promising future.
We’re honoured to bake bread on the shared unceded territory of the Ktunaxa and Sinixt First Nations.

Justine's journey as a baker started 10 years ago at Au Soleil Levant French bakery. She immediately fell in love with sourdough and bread making. She loves working with people, and the community and values good food and a healthy lifestyle. The mother of three energetic boys, Justine has mastered the art of using her creativity to solve problems and manage the bustling dynamics of family life. When Justine isn't baking, she is spending time with her family exploring the outdoors, camping, hiking and rock climbing.

Head Baker
Julie had been passionately baking for over 15 years. If you know her, you would know that she just loves food, but mostly shares this passion with people. Stepping into the journey with La Ruelle, she is the proud Head Baker! She is a caring human being and is so into bringing creativity to the daily menu. When Julie isn't at work, she is in her kitchen, playing with all kinds of ingredients to make her find her new favourite meal.
Nancy Guillemette

Over the years, Nancy has accumulated experiences in the food industry. Passionate with many aspects of what foods can offer, she has been working in cafes, restaurants, bakeries and catered. When Nancy isn't at work, she collects nettle and other wonders in the wild, cooks amazing food for her friends or goes for a run!
